Statement
We are an alliance of
Metis Shamans worldwide committed to sharing the shamanic practices of
the various shamanic methods in the world today.
- Create
an alliance
of diverse Metis Shamans, shamanic practitioners, and
apprentices worldwide.
- Collects and
disseminates knowledge about Metis Shamans worldwide.
- Promotes the
practice of Metis shamanism with integrity.
- Provides a forum for
sharing ideas on how to integrate Metis Shamanic practices into
society, educational institutions, and clinical settings.
- To facilitates
research into various shamanic healing methods.
- Supports educational
sharing through retreats, small gatherings, and an annual
meeting/conference.
- To network with
other Shamanic groups, organizations, schools, and web sites to promote
unity among the shamanic community.

Shamanic
Practitioners Ethics and Responsibilities
Metis
Medicine Society
- Practice accurately within their scope
of training, education, experience, competence, and ability.
- Practice integrity, ethics, and
objectivity, while maintaining the highest standards of the profession.
- Primary responsibility of practitioner
is to follow the consult of their Spirit Teachers in the Unseen World
on behalf of the client.
- Seek consultations
with other professional colleagues when appropriate, while maintaining
discretion and client confidentiality.
- Practitioner maintains
a standard of conduct, which does not exploit client or professional
relationships financially, sexually, or for any other personal gain.
- Enhance and maintain
opportunities for continuing professional training and education
- Uses their services
appropriately and accept responsibilities for the consequences of their
work.
- Inform client of
services available and right, limits, and possible consequences
associated with treatment, where client has enough information to
determine to proceed with treatment.
- Practitioners give
careful considerations to all factors of treatment to minimize possible
adverse effects.
- Practitioners do not
engage or condone sexual activity with clients.
- Practitioners take
appropriate measures, which include spiritual clearing in their
practice to protect themselves and their clients.
- Practitioner takes
reasonable precautions to prevent clients causing harm to self or
others.
- Practitioners take
into account practices, traditions and other areas of expertise with
colleagues and professionals for the welfare of clients.
- Foster conditions and
working environments, which ensures privacy and protection from mental,
physical, or spiritual harm.
- Practitioners reveal
confidential information only with informed written consent, except in
circumstances where to not do so would violate the law or result in
clear and imminent danger to the client or others.
- Practitioners do not
practice, condone, or collaborate in any form of discrimination on the
basis of age, sex, race, sexual orientation, religion, national origin
or socioeconomic status.
Principles
of Integrity
To be of service to the world community, the
Metis Medicine Society believes the following pledges by its Metis
Shaman members represent the core principles of this integrity.

pledge to maintain professional standards
of client privacy.

pledge to work in sacred contact with my
spirit guides, animal totems, and other allies in service to others.

pledge to do no harm in my work with
clients.
